Lawrence E Hettinger (June 8, 1902 – May 19, 1975) grew up in Boise. He was a businessman who founded and ran Producers Lumber Company with his wife, Edna. Lawrence enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, and the outdoors. He was an airplane pilot, flying his Cessna into the Idaho back country. He was part of the El Korah Shrine, and enjoyed being a Shriner.
Lawrence had a twin brother, Clarence. Clarence's wife Anna Hettinger was the first woman mayor (interim) of Boise, and was on the Boise city council for many years.
Lawrence worked for Boise Payette Lumber co. (executives pictured) at Emmett, Idaho (1934 to 1936) before starting Producers Lumber.

Edna and Lawrence enjoyed spending the summers in McCall, Idaho, and in winter would often travel south to warmer climates. Edna loved social gatherings, and was interested in business. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, traveling, golf, playing bridge, and was active in various organizations (Columbian Club, Daughters of the Nile, Nampa Business and Professional Women's Club, Idaho State Federation of Women's Clubs, Boise First Methodist Church). She was an airplane pilot (and a member in the Ninety Nines).
